That makes the station a daily pick-up point, with arrivals bunched together and tight connections. The town itself stretches between the Old Port, the seafront and the residential Boulouris district, extended eastwards by the Esterel corniche and its red rocks. Valescure, on the heights, lines up golf courses and villas. Nice Airport is fifty-five minutes away on the A8, Toulon-Hyères an hour to the west.

Why does everyone get off at Saint-Raphaël for Saint-Tropez?
Because the Gulf of Saint-Tropez has no station. Saint-Raphaël-Valescure is the useful rail terminus, and the remaining forty kilometres are by road. We pick up as the train arrives, tracking its actual time.
Does the driver wait on the platform?
In front of the station, at a point agreed when you book. If you have heavy luggage, say so: we come as close to the exit as possible rather than making you cross the forecourt.
How long to Saint-Tropez in summer?
Fifty minutes outside high season, but expect considerably more in July and August: the gulf road is the only access and it saturates. We leave early and choose the route by the hour.
